I am Ramesh
Ranjithanathan from Point Pedro, Jaffna, Sri Lanka. I am a self-trained boxing
player who is expecting professional training. Please be kind enough to read my
story.
I was born on 2nd December 1986 in Point Pedro, Jaffna. I studied in Thambasiddy M.M.T.M.S School. I was interested in boxing in early 2000, after watching boxing tournaments in television and went to Mr. Kaneshamoorthy who was a karate master at that time, to learn the basics of karate. With the help of his techniques, I myself managed to practice boxing while watching international boxing tournaments in television. In 2005, I faced my first boxing tournament at Sugathadasa stadium, Colombo which I could not succeed because of weak techniques and lack of training. The reason was, as Sri Lanka was going through a civil war during that time, we did not have enough facilities in Northern Province for a better training. As our areas were ruled by Sri Lankan army and also by LTTE, we were hiding ourselves from practicing sports because, it might end our lives in a tragedy. As soon as the war came to an end in May 2009, I started my boxing training, still with less facilities and in 2010 I got my first gold medal in northern province national sports festival, under 75 kg weight category. I am continuously holding this gold medal in every year after 2010 up to 2017. Meanwhile in 2012, I was selected to play in national sports festival and there I achieved my first national award with a bronze medal.
I am very sad, but proud to say you that all my achievements were gained without a proper training but using my own motive and enthusiasm. But from 2014, I had a chance to get trained with boxing coaches from MAS Holdings, Mr. Suranga Hettiarachchi and Mr. Madushanka which lead me to feel the necessity of a proper personal training. Under their training I could easily gain gold medal in 5th MAS MEN AND WOMEN ELITE BOXING TOURNAMENT 2015 which was a knockout.
Here is the list of my achievements. My Category –

Currently I am working as a government security officer in University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka. My dream is to participate in an international tournament and get a medal for my country. I know that, I can make that dream a true with proper personal training. I will be much glad and blessed if someone can give me their hand to get trained under a professional coach for at least one month. Because still, we here in north do not have enough facilities to train ourselves even to fit the national level tournaments.
